Updated Safety Features for RAM, Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge set the new standard for the safety of future drivers. Official National Highway Traffic Reports that there has been a major increase in accidents which has prompted auto brands to increase their vehicle's safety features. In a recent news release, Stellantis reports that testing is currently being done on safety features to alert drivers of nearby hazards. The initial test will include vehicles such as RAM, Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge. The automaker is pairing up with HAAS Alert to test this system which would be sending emergency alerts directly to these vehicles. A warning system would give drivers an initial warning of potential hazards. A warning would also be sent to police, fire, and emergency vehicles. Even when a vehicle is miles away, this system gives real-time updates through the Safety Cloud. Stellantis is currently exploring the benefits of Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) Platforms and how to inform these drivers of potential hazards. This system would not only give drivers these alerts on the road, but also at every intersection. This computer system tracks this type of activity on a grid like platform. It then sends a message to all vehicles nearby. It would be essential for a system like this one to require a huge wireless network to make all of this possible. The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) is partnering with Stellantis to power this overall system. Testing with 5GAA will occur with vehicles that have Uconnect.
