The Dodge Challenger: A Sports Car That Stays On Top

The last gas powered 2023 Dodge Challenger represents the end of an era and the beginning of an EV Dodge Muscle car future.

  • Dodge will discontinue the Dodge Challenger production by 2024 in preparation for an electric future at Dodge.
  • The Dodge Challenger has received many recognitions and awards over the years and have sold over 55,000 Challengers just in 2022.
  • The Dodge Challenger has the most powerful engine in on the market: a V-8 engine and is in competition with well known makes like Ford and Chevy.

2023 is officially the last year to expect combustion engine Dodge Challengers to be for sale. The well-known auto brand is making a transition to all electric Dodge Challengers. Here at Barry Sanders Supercenter, we welcome the EV muscle car with open arms. Let’s take a look at the current image of the Dodge Challenger and see what we can expect in the electric future of Dodge. First and most notably, the Dodge Challenger outlasts its competitors winning the top sold sports car two years in a row. It provides a timeless design inside and out. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Keep reading to find out where you can find a Dodge Challenger for sale near you.

2023 Dodge Challenger Production

Selling 55,060 units, the 2022 Challenger surpassing the Mustang and Camaro for the second year in a row. Just a year prior, Dodge sold 54,314 Challengers, almost doubling the Chevrolet Camaro. This impressive feat may be attributed to Dodge's decision to end production of its current generation of HEMI-powered Chargers and Challengers before transitioning to electric vehicles in 2024, making the final ICE models highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.

Dodge Challenger 2022 Recognitions

Every year car enthusiasts gather at the annual SEMA trade show in Las Vegas, waiting to see which make and model of vehicle will win awards for their respective categories. The awards are given to automakers who create accessible platforms for aftermarket enthusiasts. The 2022 Car of the Year award was bestowed upon the Dodge Challenger, which has proven to be a highly sought-after offering as the model nears the end of its combustion-engine production run.

Despite its age, the legendary muscle car continues to receive significant investment from aftermarket companies. The Dodge Challenger has once again proven its dominance and continues to be a top choice for personalization and modification. With its classic, timeless design and powerful engine, it's no surprise that the Challenger is the 2022 Car of the Year.

What Makes The 2023 Dodge Challenger So Special?

In anticipation for the 2024 all-electric Dodge Challenger, the 2023 model marks a special moment in automotive history as it marks the last year of the Dodge Challenger with a traditional gasoline engine. The 2023 Dodge Challenger with its gasoline engine represents the end of an era and the beginning of “E-Muscle” cars that harness electric energy. The Challenger is the culmination of over 50 years of muscle car heritage.

The 2023 model year is expected to offer the same powerful driving experience that the Challenger is known for. Things like a range of high-performance engines that deliver exceptional horsepower and torque. The 2023 Dodge Challenger is also expected to offer the latest in safety and technology features. This makes it a well-rounded sports car for those who appreciate the raw power of traditional gasoline engines. This model is a true collector's item, and a must-have for any muscle car enthusiast.

The Most Powerful American V8 Engine

The end of an era is approaching for muscle car enthusiasts as Dodge announces the discontinuation of the current Challenger and Charger at the end of 2023. All-electric Charger Daytona SRT will be replacing these iconic muscle cars. This will mark a major shift in the brand's focus towards electrification. Dodge has six limited edition "Last Call" versions of these vehicles.

These special models are sure to be sought after by collectors and fans of the brand. They will serve as a reminder of the incredible heritage and performance that these vehicles have come to embody. Dodge CEO, Kuniskis, promises that this "history making" vehicle will be worth the wait. Details on what to expect from this seventh special edition model has not been shared. Kuniskis has, however, hinted that its 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat V8 engine could be the most powerful one ever.

Electric Dodge Challenger Competitors

Dodge will face stiff competition from muscle car rivals. These rivals include the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and the hybrid Chevrolet Corvette. Each of these vehicles offers its own unique blend of performance and style. This makes it tough for the electric Challenger to stand out in this competitive segment. However, the electric Challenger has the potential to set a new standard. The Dodge reputation for delivering a powerful driving experience will make the electric Dodge Challenger a must-have for driving enthusiasts and muscle car fans alike.

The Dodge Demon of 2018

In a market where more and more car companies are starting to push their resources towards hybrids and electric cars, Dodge is going against the grain by bringing back a classic for drivers who still appreciate power behind the wheel of their car on the Oklahoma highways. Dodge has announced the return of one of its classic models of muscle car from the early 70s: the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon. While not much is yet known about the new model of Demon, it has been revealed by Fiat Chrysler's head of passenger car brands, Tim Kuniskis, that this new car will be more powerful than the Dodge Challenger Hellcat that was released a few years ago- Which had a 6.8-liter, V-8 engine that produced an already impressive 707 horsepower. According to Dodgedemon.net, the original Dodge Demon featured a similar body as the Plymouth Duster, and came in two separate two-door models. The engine featured a 275 hp four barrel 340 V-8 wedge engine and heavy-duty three-speed manual transmission. It can be assumed that the new 2018 model of Demon will be modernized from head to toe, but will still have some resembling features of its ancestor. 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon At Barry Sanders Supercenter The Dodge Challenger Demon SRT is set to be unveiled at the New York Auto Show this upcoming April, 2017 and is sure to be the next hot model of muscle car on the market.
