The newest safety feature for Hyundai is the safe-exit assist. Safe-exit assist prevents children and impulsive adults from opening doors too soon. So far, the 2019 Santa Fe and the new 2020 Palisade have this feature. This gives you the choice to see it now, or later.
Activating the safe-exit assist is easy. On the driver’s side of the car, the push button is located next to the main lock and power window controls, just like child locks. Once the button is pressed, radar sensors in the back bumper keep the rear doors locked if moving cars are detected. The safe-exit assist feature works even when the car is not running.
