You may remember hearing about the Hornet back in 2006. Dodge had revealed their concept car that looked like a mix between a Chevy PT Cruiser, Kia Soul and a Mini Cooper. The hornet was a tall-roofed rally inspired hatchback that focused on maximizing the interior space and showing an aggressive attitude in appearance. Just recently, applications for trademarks were filled with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the “Dodge Hornet” and “Hornet”, as well as in Canada and Mexico.

Ram’s 2020 Ecodiesel is an all new remake and we like what we’re seeing so far! This is the Ecodiesel’s third generation and we want to share why this light-duty diesel truck surpasses the main Ford and Chevy equivalents in all the essentials. The 2020 Ecodiesel is ahead of the curve in both torque yield and maximum towing capacity, which is 12,560 pounds.
Quick facts about the Ram 2020 Ecodiesel
- Ram’s new 1500 EcoDiesel is overall less expensive than its Ford and Chevy rivals and is available in every configuration.

Depending on trim, the diesel engine costs between $3,000 and $3,300 more than Ram’s range-topping 5.7-liter V-8 with the eTorque motor-generator.
Ram is the FIRST of the Big Three to provide a light-duty diesel engine in every configuration of its 1500-series. This means you don’t have to sacrifice your favorite 1500-series pickup configuration for a diesel engine. Oh and let’s not forget that Ram’s 2020 EcoDiesel provides customers with the best value for the price.
By making the 3.0L diesel engine available with every cab, bed, and drive configuration, the workaday $38,585 Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD, Ram’s light-duty diesel truck, falls well beneath the price of Chevy’s least expensive diesel-equipped Silverado 1500. The Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD is significantly less expensive than Ford’s cheapest half-ton diesel.

Review on the All-New 2019 Ram 1500

Although pickup trucks may not be the vehicle of choice for most, there is no denying the allure of an all-American pickup truck. Specifically the 2019 Ram 1500.
Motortrend reviewed the 2019 Ram 1500, describing the vehicle in terms of “meeting the needs of the 21st century buyer, with more variety, capability, comfort, convenience and value than ever before.”
So what about the 2019 Ram 1500 is so spectacular? The 1500 provides a redesign including a choice of seven grilles and three head and tail lamp designs. Not to mention, the vehicle has 15 wheel designs with strong six-bolt hubs and bed sizes of either 5-foot-7 or 6-foot-4.
More so, on the interior, the vehicle has a configurable center console with ample amount of space for food, drink or even a 15-inch laptop. The Uconnect infotainment system is widely an adaptation of a Volvo, Audi and Jaguar all mixed together. Needless to say, it is quite impressive. The touchscreen is a massive 12-inch display– resembling something found in a Tesla. The touchscreen supports Apple Carplay and Android Auto. There are a few other technological updates in the 2019 Ram 1500, such as a wireless charging pad and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Who knew this monster of a truck could be so futuristic?
Interior
Now onto the cabin. Reviews on Motortrend say that the cabin’s furnishings and functionality are way more impressive than the technological side. Ram’s technology updates seem hard to surpass, but let’s see.
Valuables can be put in the rear floor by flipping up the seats. The Ram’s bins are underneath the rear floormats. Did you know that the Ram’s rear bench seat reclines up to eight degrees and features heated/cooled rear seats as well?
Each model comes with distinctive colors and Natura Plus leather. Luxurious.
“GM has to be kidding, going up against this with the High Country and Denali,” said Scott Evans, an editor of Motortrend. “This is a luxury interior. Look at this wood! This leather! The metal, stitching, design, attention to detail! The leather on the grab handles! Cadillac could learn a thing or two by spending an afternoon in this cabin.”
This is a relatively big insight to the luxury of the all-new Ram 1500. The detail seems to be super extensive, to the point that the vehicle is compared to Cadillac.
Overview
Overall, the new version is built out of sheet metal largely built from steel with the use of lighter metals, decreasing the weight by about 200 pounds. The vehicle is equipped with coil-spring rear suspension which could affect towing capacity. But with the decrease in weight, the Ram towing capacity rises to 12,750 pounds. Quite impressive. This towing capacity is far more significant than any of Ram’s competitors, such as Chevrolet, GMC, Nissan and Toyota.
It even gets better under the hood! Two out of the three Ram engines has supplemental electric motors to improve fuel economy and performance. With Ram’s new “eTorque” system, deemed as a mild-hybrid system, some energy can be regenerated by a motor/generator. Although the system is somewhat electric, the term “mild-hybrid” alludes to the vehicle not being able to perform solely on the electric power. It simply takes some of the load off of the vehicle, with the start/stop assistance, which can improve fuel economy. Overall the truck can save two miles per gallon, which does not sound like a large amount, but that can eventually add up overtime.
Motortrend names the 2019 Ram 1500 the “Best Truck of the Year”. With all the features and capabilities plus the exceptional performance and quality, the Ram 1500 highly impressive. Comparing to competitors, the Ram 1500 simply beats any other vehicle because of the functionality, furnishings and technological advances. How could you not want this pickup?
