Everyone wants to get the best deal on a car, but not everyone knows the tricks that get you the best deal. Barry Sanders Supercenter does.

Trading in you car is the best way to utilize your current equity to your new purchase. It’s the smart play, if you don’t want to keep the car, of course.

When considering trading in your used car to save money on a new car, you want to get the most money possible. Follow these steps to do just that:

1. Know your used car’s value.
One of the best ways to understand the value of your car is to research similar vehicles. See what dealers have them listed for, what Kelley Blue Book says they should be valued at, and how much other individuals are trying to sell them for. You will quickly begin to see the dollar spectrum your car can fall into. Then determine the shape of your car to place it at the high end of the spectrum or the lower end. Always be realistic. If you don’t, you are setting yourself up for failure.

2. Look at the car from the dealer’s perspective.
The first question you should ask is what will they have to fix. If the vehicle only needs a light cleaning and then it is good to be put on the lot, you have an absolute gem. Most people are not that lucky. The dealership will do a walk around of the car, they will drive the vehicle and then they add up the repairs, including alignment, tires, transmission, dents, window chips, etc. The dealer will also look at how heavily used the car is by reading mileage. That is a key factor in what people are willing to pay for a used vehicle.

3. Make it shine.
Give your car a THOROUGH cleaning before taking it in. From the tires to the sunroof, make sure anything you can make sparkle, sparkles.

4. Show proof.
If you have receipts, records or anything else to prove you have taken care of the car, bring them and use them as negotiation tools. The dealer can’t question the integrity of you engine if you have had the car for 2 years and you have had 5 oil changes. You should always have back up.

5. See if the time is right.
Are you selling a convertible? Don’t sell it in the winter. Are you trying to get a lot of money for a mini van? Try waiting until school starts. Seasons are indicators to what people will want, and dealerships will pay more for what people will want immediately.

6. Don’t surrender your keys until you are happy with the deal.
Use your walk away power. You have it, the dealership does not. You can always drive that car for a few months longer.

We hope these tips allow you to get a deal you are happy with when you trade in your next used car. Remember, Barry Sanders Supercenter is a dealership that is always on the look out to buy trade ins. If you have one that you’d like us to appraise (after you’ve done all your research and the other trade-in tips, of course,) give us a call or swing by our lot in Stillwater, Oklahoma, home of the Cowboys.

We look forward to meeting ya!

Stillwater Makes A Change With the Help of Barry Sanders Supercenter

smac and dealership logo promotional text

Each year, Barry Sanders Supercenter gets to help Stillwater High School raise money for a local nonprofit during SMAC week. SMAC stands for Stillwater Makes a Change, and that is not an overstatement. Stillwater High School is known for raising over $100,000 for nonprofits during the week. Our dealership helped with this effort by hosting a test drive event where we donated $20 per test drive to the cause.

This year we were given the opportunity in April to help this school. With the added initiative of our communities we raised substantial funds for this non-profit.

We wish to personally thank all attendees that visited us to test drive a vehicle, see Mangent, or Snack with SMAC. We look forward to next year’s SMAC week with Stillwater High School and its partners.

Barry Sanders Supercenter Helps Stillwater Make A Change

Each year, Barry Sanders Supercenter gets to help Stillwater High School raise money for a local nonprofit during SMAC week. SMAC stands for Stillwater Makes a Change. Stillwater High School is known for raising over $100,000 for nonprofits during the week.

Barry Sanders Supercenter was given the privilege of honoring two students with the annual Barry Sanders Pioneer Award this past April. This award is given out to two of members of the student that reflect great leadership and passion for their school. The students were given a Chromebook to use in their future endeavors.

We wish to thank Principal, Uwe Gordon, for allowing Barry Sanders Supercenter to be such a big part of this week and to benefit the student body and professional staff. “The 100th Barry Sanders Supercenter/Pioneer Pride Award is an amazing achievement”, stated by Principal Gordon, “I appreciate Barry Sanders Supercenter for their continued dedication to our amazing students and teachers.”

Thank you to the community for being encouraging towards these students, their goals for benefiting communities in the surrounding areas and in their own backyards.

Our Partnership with Perkins-Tryon Schools

Barry Sanders Supercenter values education and knows that the schools and students in our Oklahoma communities need all the support we can offer. That’s why when a Perkins-Tryon senior class parent reached out to partner with us, we were happy to oblige.

Our partnership turned into an effort to raise money for the senior class of Perkins-Tryon through a test drive fundraiser. We at Barry Sanders Supercenter were happy to help our Stillwater neighbors by donating $20 for every test drive taken in one of our vehicles on October 7, 2017.

After a long day of test drives at the Perkins-Tryon high school, we are happy to say we helped raise $1,260 for the kids in the graduating class.

In August 2017, Barry Sanders Supercenter was honored to sponsor the 32nd Annual Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo in Stillwater’s neighbor town of Pawnee, Oklahoma

Image of the 32nd Annual Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo

The rodeo was a smashing success, and that’s not just because we had some of our finest RAM trucks there, either.

The three-day event was packed full of excitement because of the excellent talent there to compete. From bucking broncos and striking rodeo Royalty, to the rambunctious bulls the riders had to hold on to for 8 seconds, there was always something to be enamored by at the Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo… But that’s a fact we were counting on before we left Stillwater.

In addition to the great athletes and livestock, our group from Stillwater got to witness great American patriotism in the flesh and celebrate it. The rodeo took the time to honor two military veterans with special ties to the town of Pawnee and the rodeo itself. One of those gentlemen was 100 years young. It was a special part of the event; one that made us even more proud to play a part in putting it on.

Though we had to take a bit of a road trip to get there, the Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo was well worth it, and we look forward to making the trip again next year.

Our Teacher of the Year and Student Winners

Barry Sanders Supercenter has been a proud partner of Stillwater High School for years. The dealership staff and ownership are passionate about supporting local education in Stillwater, and the surrounding communities.

Because of that, Barry Sanders Supercenter created the Barry Sanders Supercenter Pioneer Spirit Award. This award is given to outstanding students at Stillwater High School throughout the school year, and to the teacher of the year at the end of the year. Last year, the award, which comes in the form of a new iPad, was given to nine students and one teacher.

Uwe Gordon, Principal at Stillwater High School, says the award has taken on a significant role at the school.

“The Barry Sanders Supercenter – Pioneer Spirit Award has become an important part of the culture of Stillwater High School,” Gordon said. “We use it to recognize students who are exceptional in deeds, leadership, community service, academics or talent. Barry and the team gave us the latitude to make it ours and since 2008 it has recognized over 90 amazing Pioneers. We are so thankful for your help.”

It is an award Barry Sanders Supercenter is proud of, and one that the dealership hopes can help Oklahoma students explore technology, find new passions and take with them as they move forward to new adventures.
